MERCOSUR 2017 Film and Video Festival

CINECIEN is the MERCOSUR scientific film and video festival dedicated to promoting audiovisual works by researchers and academics in all areas of scientific knowledge, through the creative and communicational possibilities offered by audiovisual media.

The Festival emerged as an initiative presented by the Department of Audiovisual Arts of the National University Institute of Art (IUNA) to the Special Meeting of Science and Technology of Mercosur (RECyT), which incorporated the proposal into its program of activities and is currently part of the National Program for the Popularization of Science and Innovation.

The purpose of the festival is to encourage the filmmakers and institutions of MERCOSUR member countries and associates to use audiovisual media as a vehicle for the dissemination of the work of researchers and scientists from all areas, as well as to promote and disseminate the scientific production of the region; to promote the use of the Spanish and Portuguese language as a means of expressing the progress of knowledge and to articulate the human, technical and infrastructure resources of the audiovisual producers of the public and decentralized universities and public bodies of MERCOSUR.

The deadline for the delivery of the works was extended until September 11th.
