Costa Rica is informed and trained in the Horizon 2020 Program of the European Commission

On 26 and 27 April in San José, Costa Rica, a training on the Horizon 2020 program in science and technology of the European Commission, was organized. The initiative was led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications of Costa Rica (MICITT) with the support of the ALCUE NET Project, led by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation (MINCyT) of Argentina and with the support of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) in Uruguay as a reference for the LAC NCP Network.

The objective is to strengthen the national capacities of science and technology agencies, researchers and companies to increase Costa Rica's participation in the Horizon 2020 Program.

The inauguration was attended by the Vice Minister of Science and Technology of Costa Rica, Mr. Carolina Vásquez Soto.

The Horizon 2020 Program was presented, the mechanisms for participation, the tools for the search of meetings and partners, as well as different aspects that contribute to the motivation and appropriation of the Program by the participants. The mechanisms for access and participation conditions for the Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions (MSCA) were also presented. The presentations were given by Soc. Claudia Romano, Manager of International Cooperation and Projects of the MEC and Lic. María Queralt Gonzáles, project technician at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.

In addition to the trainings, a working session was also held with National Contact Points to publicize their tasks within the European Union, providing support in calls for proposals.
